As a 15 year resident of the Tanglewood area myself, I have to admit, I’m quite biased; I just love this neighborhood and highly recommend it to those that are relocating. Not only are you in the heart of the city, but we’re living in a beautiful, quiet, and safe neighborhood.
We are literally walking distance from so many restaurants, stores, and shops. We’re close to plenty of grocery stores, dry cleaners, public & private schools (like Awty International/ Kincaid/ Duschene), and other services that are accessible without having to get on the highways.
Plus, with relatively easy access to Downtown and the Energy Corridor, Tanglewood and its surrounding neighborhoods like Briarcroft, Briargrove and Memorial are definitely worth your consideration.
There are also many gyms and clubs in the area too like the Trotter Family YMCA, The Houstonian, The Houston Country Club and many others.
The Galleria and Uptown
In Tanglewood, we’re also close to the Galleria, the Uptown Post Oak shopping area, and approximately the same distance to both airports (William P. Hobby and George Bush Intercontinental).
Located just north of Tanglewood, the Galleria and Uptown neighborhoods are home to the largest shopping mall in Texas, where you’ll find everything from luxury retailers and hair salons to your favorite ready-to-wear brands. On top of that, this region is also one of Houston’s largest business districts— and the perfect place to find a luxury high-rise with easy access to the office.
Speaking of which, a new project currently underway in Uptown aims to bring additional office space and parking to the area. The project, at 1749 Post Oak Blvd, is estimated to be completed by this time next year, and “will take advantage of Uptown’s new 15-foot setbacks by creating pedestrian connectivity with tree-framed sidewalks and a soon-to-debut transit lane,” according to a recent article from Bisnow.
